REBEL GARDEN

REBEL GARDEN

Till 1 September 2024 Musea Brugge presents the most urgent art exhibition of the moment: Rebel Garden. What is man’s impact on nature, and how does it affect our environment? The ambitious expo breaks out of traditional museum walls and occupies no fewer than three museum sites: Groeninge Museum, Gruuthuse Museum and Museum Sint-Janshospitaal. Old and contemporary art take a close look at the tumultuous relationship between man and nature and highlight the painful wound that is climate crisis.

NASI PER L'ARTE

“A missing nose is a common characteristic in ancient sculptures. Without a nose, the statue-spirit ceases to breathe. In many cultures, the (prominent) nose was considered the highest and most perfect expression of character and a sign of power and energy. By making the nose a noticeable centerpiece, I create a profound mental portrait.” — Sofie Muller

Open until Sunday 21 May 2023!

STILLE LEVENS

STILLE LEVENS

Curator: Koen Broeck.

For the expo 'Stille levens', artist Koen Broucke artistically examines the many invisible and unprecedented collections in a city like Ostend, especially of beachcombers.

Broucke went in search of the stories and lives behind these bizarre and hybrid collections. The joy with which a child collects shells or the sadness at the loss of a beloved toy or a wedding ring in the sand: the underlying emotions are contained in these objects.
